Committee Descriptions

Admissions: (Monday-Sunday) Admissions volunteers are responsible for meeting and greeting virtually all guests that arrive at the tournament. These volunteers perform ticket and program sales. Additionally, these individuals field general inquiries from the public.

A-TEAM: (Monday-Sunday) Described as a "utility" position, due to the fact that volunteers will perform a variety of tasks. This position is ideal for the individual who likes variety and desires to get an overall perspective of the tournament.

Construction: (Pre-Post tournament) These volunteers perform a number of tasks before, during and after the tournament. They assist with any construction needed throughout the tournament. Numerous on-course and off-course signs and structures must be placed and removed. Basically, volunteers are responsible for course set up and tear down.

Distribution: (Monday-Sunday) Assist with delivering food, beverages and other supplies as deemed necessary to various locations of the tournament. i.e. Media Center, Player Locker Room, Starting & Finishing Tents and PGA TOUR Headquarters.

The Golf Channel: (Thursday-Sunday) These individuals are responsible for relaying to The Golf Channel staff members information regarding scores, playing order, etc. Volunteers may also be assigned as microphone operators, who will record the sounds of golfers and golf shots. Shift times are dependent on The Golf Channel broadcast schedule.

Marshals: (Thursday-Sunday) Assist with crowd control and enforce proper golf etiquette among spectators as well as locate and protect errant shots. Marshals are responsible for providing control over the gallery, cross walks, tee boxes, and greens. Marshals are responsible for rope and gate maintenance for each hole. Marshals must be physically able to walk long distances and stand for long periods of time.

Parking: (Monday-Sunday) These individuals are responsible for directing incoming and outgoing traffic. Volunteers will direct vehicles into designated parking spaces. Often, these individuals make the first impression on arriving spectators.

Practice Facility: (Monday-Sunday) Volunteers are responsible for picking up, cleaning, and distributing practice balls and maintaining range signs. The Pete Dye Golf Club staff performs most of the range duties; however, the golf staff still needs additional assistance from volunteers.

Scoring Central: (Thursday-Sunday) These trained volunteers monitor and update the PGA TOUR scoring system throughout each tournament day. These individuals must have an extensive knowledge of golf and be comfortable with electronic scoring equipment. Members of this committee work closely with Nationwide Tour scoring officials.

Standard Bearers: (Thursday-Sunday) This is considered a physical position and requires volunteers to carry a sign for an entire round of golf. Volunteers must be able to walk 18 holes while carrying a sign displaying name and scores of each player in the group.

Starting and Finishing Tents: (Thursday-Sunday) Manage food and beverage placement for players as they continue or complete their round.

Transportation: (Monday-Sunday) Driving numerous shuttles to and from the parking areas to the course is the main responsibility of transportation volunteers. Some players will require transport to off-course sites (hotels, airports, etc.). Must have a valid driver's license.

Volunteer Services: (Monday-Sunday) Volunteer services are the main contact and organizational arm of all volunteers. Volunteers assist with volunteer hospitality and provide general direction to all volunteers.

Walking Scorers: (Thursday-Sunday) Volunteers must walk an entire round of golf carrying a Palm Pilot, data radio, battery pack and voice radio. Must have a thorough knowledge of golf and be able to walk 18 holes.
